Vancouver Folk Festival - bring your cheques to July 7 "The Importance of Joy" @ Ramada

Maria and I are doing fund-raising - what do you think of our pitch so far?
******************************************
Hi, this is Gwenda, is that Maria?

Do you have a minute to talk? I’m calling to ask you to participate in an outreach event to introduce people to Maharaji.

If, YES then - yippee!

We’re finding the old-style hall events don’t work so this summer we're moving into the parks and streets and do things differently. Nuthin’ to lose.

So we’re going to have a tent outside this year’s Vancouver Folk Festival July 14-15-16. We’re going to staff it 24 hours a day and sleep there one or two nights ahead to guarantee our spot. We’ll have two stations at the back where people can put on head-phones and watch special 7-12 min excerpts of Maharaji, and then in the evening we’ll put up the big white sheet like the old days, and show a full DVD. (just joking about the sheet - we'll have a screen). :-) :-)

We need volunteers for the day, and to contribute financially. Are you interested in either of these?

If yes, THEN talk about financial FIRST (that's why we're calling)

Well, I’m calling you specifically to ask for a financial contribution. Our budget is $1300 with biggest item being purchase of 2 Eliminator 1200 watt Power Box batteries. While one is being used, the other can be charged so we’ll have quiet electricity all day. We'll be using these batteries again for other outdoor events this summer. The second biggest item is purchase of Discovering More DVDs and other give-away materials.

If you are interested in contributing financially then please bring a cheque (no amount too small) to the Community Meeting and "The Importance of Joy " DVD screening, the Friday after next, July 7. See www.eventline.ca for details.

If you are interested in volunteering on the days of the event, I will take your contact information and John will contact you.

LOVE YOU Maria babe!

Whiterock Library Monday Night Lecture "Freedom Within"

I really enjoyed my first event at the Whiterock library last night. 14 peopled turned up - i was hoping for 40 and expecting 3, so it was great. Two even came from south of the border.

It started with music video, lots of library patrons popped their heads in and none stayed *but* obviously I've picked the right night (library staff told me Monday is the busy night), and right room (on the landing on the way into the library).

Maharaji was incredible - the DVD was from Malaysia with 4000 people in the room and 3,700 of them seeing him live for the first time.

Judith came with refreshments (tea/coffee/cookies) and the AV team was there with the big screen and other projector. Susan Lee Hem brought the bags with complimentary information for new people (although there were none).

This will change for my next event because of the SANDWICH BOARD which I'm going to leave up all day next time:

Prem Rawat
Public Lecture
Tonight 7:30 pm

Admission by donation

I'll going to design this myself and have it printed up at Staples. Lisa will construct the stand.

I made an announcement saying "If you can make a contribution, it would help us cover the cost of the room" and I collected $75!

I've had a lot of experience putting on events much larger than this one, but I admit I was nervous but through team effort the outcome was wonderful and I think was a great step to having regular Prem Rawat public lectures at the libary.

Yeah! Putting the "rock" back into "Whiterock"!
Best regards,
John Archer

All Day Peace Event in South Main

I felt a great relief 2 days ago when i postponed this event until the 24th. It will be more effective and more fun if I wait until the KIT (Knowledge In Transit as Susan Lee Hem calls it) is ready. I want time to create some great postcard invitations (well, not me as I am graphically challenged) and distribute them around my neighbourhood haunts, and also invite my friends. The planning part can be fun.

All the best,
Gwenda

welcome

welcome fellow lovers of light

there is so much inspiration from action going on with people acting on a small scale in a free-flowing way but each working in a little bubble like beads of mercury on a plate

this is an attempt to jiggle the plate to get the beads together
