Two Great Opportunities ... Coming Right Up!

The Folkfest 2007

We introduced Maharaji and the Possiblity of Peace at last year's Folkfest for the first time.
I had a blast! Such an opportunity to interact with people! MANY, MANY people, as they flowed past our impromptu campsite. Everyone feeling relaxed and open, enjoying the beautiful day, and the festive atmosphere of the music festival. We intereacted in a number of ways: guests could have a seat and watch a short intro DVD, a full feature DVD, take some handouts, chat a while, buy a roti.

For myself, as someone enjoying doing service, it was a most satisfying experience.

I wanted to reflect on that experience and sound the "Heads Up" because I know that this year will be better than ever. There is talk of putting up the big screen and showing a full feature DVD in the middle of a field when the sun goes down! Can you imagine? If I begin focusing from now and prepare myself to grasp this wonderful opportunity as it approaches I will turn this opportunity into GOLD. Join us!

A One of a Kind Event - Works of Wisdom, Love & Peace

I am not an artist. I do not earn a living as an artist but over the years I have enjoyed many artistic projects. When I lost my job I immediately began self therapy by collecting fall leaves, drying them and applying them to mirror frames. I have made mirror frames collaged with bits of clam shells. I love to arrange seasonal flowers for my home. I wove a basket out of dried fibers from my potted sedge. I create balcony gardens. I made pinatas and puppet shows for my children's birthdays when they were small. I recently dabbled in batik and turned the effort into cushion covers.

Perhaps one of my projects would qualify as an entry for Works of Wisdom, Love and Peace. The lino block prints I have made over the years. I first began making lino block prints back in Trinidad then continued making one a year, since migrating to Canada. I gear up, once a year in October, to make a new image. The image usually is inspired by something that has come up during the year and I happen to mention in my end of year letter to family and friends. The lino block print then becomes the card I send out with my year end letter. I have five of them now. I supposed I am committed to the theme of lino block prints for my year end family letter. A way of sharing a little of myself and my creativity with those I care about. A family tradition.

I have submitted my lino blocks to the Works of Wisdom, Love and Peace selection committee and leave it with them to decide if they are what they are looking for, for the upcoming Works of Wisdom, Love & Peace.

I'll bet that you have your own special, unique way to express love of life, your creativity ... even though you may not really be an artist .... think of submitting it to the selection committee ... You never know!
